Hebcal answers are now available on the Google Assistant
Dear Hebcal,
Thank you for providing such a rich, resourceful website and nodejs library.
I was recently informed that my programming project was just published with the Google Assistant ("Hey Google") on the Google Home. Now, everyone in the world can ask for Shabbat times, davening times, food brachot, Hebrew dates, and more. The name of the app is "Jewish Info". Users can say, for example, "Hey Google, ask Jewish Info when Shabbat starts in Los Angeles, CA" and it responds with candle lighting and havdalah times. It is available on every Android phone and iPhone with the Google Assistant app, and also on every Google Home.
Many of the answers are generated using the Hebcal nodejs library.
Here are some photos of the app in action:

Is it possible to include a blurb about this on your homepage? It could say something like:
Hebcal is now available on the Google Assistant. Just ask, "Hey Google, talk to Jewish Info."
Kol tuv,
Josh
Is there a way to get the shabat times API work for a specific date (and not only for "now")?
I'm testing the API and want to see how the results will look like for different dates or different jewish holidays. Is it possible to request a specific date?
Hi, thanks for using Hebcal Shabbat API.
Yes, you can optionally specify an exact date, for example 13 February 2021.
- gy=2021&gm=2&gd=13
For example:
https://www.hebcal.com/shabbat?cfg=json&geonameid=3448439&M=on&gy=2021&gm=2&gd=13
How can I remove Hebcal from calendar if it was downloaded directly instead of subscribed?
I downloaded Hebcal to my google calendar instead of subscribing. It is now integrated into my main calendar and I can't get rid of it. I would like the dates, but I want to be able to turn them on and off ... right now all I can see is the Hebcal dates and I can't see any of my own appointments. It is a real problem.
How do I add the major jewish calendar setting my calendar time to busy
Hello, I need to block off all major Jewish holidays and mark them as 'busy'. Now because the holidays start and end on different times I can't just make this a whole day event and mark it as busy. Is there a way to customise your calendar so it will show the exact times of when holidays and shabbat comes in and out and mark the whole time in-between as busy?
Thank you,
Shlomo
fasts schedules time
Is it possible to get in the calendar and in the json file the beginning and end times for the fasts (Purim, First borns,.17 tamuz, 9 Av, Guedalia,10 tebeth)?
thank you for advices
best regards
Michel Rottenberg
Fast start and end times are now provided for major fast (Tish’a B’Av) and minor fasts (Ta’anit Esther, Tzom Gedaliah, Tzom Tammuz, Asara B’Tevet, & Ta’anit Bechorot). Minor fasts begin at alot hashachar (when the sun is 16.1° below the horizon in the morning) and end when 3 medium-sized stars are observable in the night sky (when the sun is 7.083° below the horizon in the evening). Tish’a B’Av fast begins at sundown and ends when 3 medium-sized stars are observable.
How can I save the calendar to make personal dates for distribution to congregants?
We used to be able to save the calendar with the appropriate dates, make some edits, and add some independent events. Then save this in a different format. We cannot do this now.
Torah Readings on Mondays and Thursdays
This is such a helpful webisite! I visit it often to get information on Torah Readings. I am also grateful for the calendar information and the date converter.
In addition to the weekly Shabbat aliyot breakdown, could you please also list the aliyot read on Mondays and Thursdays? I lost my luach recently, and had trouble figuring out the aliyot read on a recent Monday. With this information you will make the Torah reading information more comprehensive than it already is.
Hi, we have added weekday Torah readings to our parsha pages:

Mo'adim L'Simcha!
Hanukkah Saturday night doesn't show Havdalah.
Yes, I saw the post (linked below) as "not a bug", but this is an issue, because APIs can look for "Candle lighting" and "Havdalah" (for Shabbat) to do things such as enable and disable devices, and because it isn't listed, those actions will not occur.
Please fix this and display a duplicate time for Havdalah and Candles for that one night a year.
Hi, thanks for the feedback.
We've made changes to how our API works and Chanukah candle-lighting times will no longer suppress regular Shabbat/Havdalah times. Here's an example to illustrate how the API now behaves (with 2 events on Friday night and 2 events on Saturday night).

Great addition to my calendar. Would be even better if you noted dates foe Yizkor. Thank you.
We have added an optional Yizkor checkbox to the custom calendar page at https://www.hebcal.com/hebcal
We have also added a dedicated Yizkor calendar to this page https://www.hebcal.com/ical/
