Deselect Major Holidays

Parker Robb 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 1

I want to export Major Holidays, Minor Holidays, Modern Holidays all to different calendars, but there doesn’t seem to be the ability to export the two latter only—for some reason “Major Holidays” is checked and I can’t uncheck it. is there any way to export just Minor Holidays or Modern Holidays?

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal, and thanks for the question.

Unfortunately no, we don't have a way to export just Minor or Modern holidays. Currently our calendar requires major holidays when you check one of the other options.

Calendar no longer offers Hebrew date for 20 years?

jhmeltzer 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 1

You previously had a option to create a calendar showing each year's Hebrew date.  That is what I was seeking when I logged in today.  I don't need a calendar showing when the English birthday occurs, I need the Hebrew date.  How can I now do that without having to do year by year with the converter?

Generate a list of Yahrzeit dates, Hebrew Birthdays, or Hebrew Anniversaries.

After you generate a personal anniversary calendar, you will be able to print, subscribe to annual email reminders, or download a multi-year calendar feed to Apple, Google, Outlook, and other calendar apps.

Any way to see English holidays as well?

Mordechai Leiser 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 3

Need to see the English holidays besides the hebrew ones. Any way to get them on the same calendar, which is great, by the way. Thank you

Readings for hol hamoed Pesah 5781 incorrect

Mikie Goldstein 3 years ago updated 2 years ago 3

The readings that Hebcal has for the days of hol hamoed Pesah 5781 in Israel are incorrect. The first day of hol hamoed (second day of Pesah) should be the same Vayikra reading as read in hutz laaretz. We actually read the same each day! The big problem is that Hebcal has NO reading for the last day of hol hamoed in Israel (Friday)! I have just had to deal with a question about this from a student, who was most perplexed that there was NO reading for this day!
Please correct the readings, especially if the same appears in future years (I didn't check).

Yes, I live in Israel but I want to see the triennial system. How do I get there?

Maayan Turner 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 1

I used to see the diaspora readings, and now my computer, it seems, has worked out I'm in Israel - but I still want to see the triennial system, with links, week by week (not downloaded in a single document). Is there a way for me to switch "back" to the diaspora mode? Or, even better, to see the triennial system IN ISRAEL??

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal!

We are sorry to hear you are having trouble finding the triennial Torah readings. Triennial schedule is only available in the Diaspora, and you may have customized your calendar for Israel.

We made a small change to our Israel Torah reading pages earlier this week to make it easier to switch to the Diaspora schedule. You will now see a section called Triennial that includes a link that says "See Diaspora schedule".

Please take a look again and let us know if this helps?

Events are on the wrong days

Hornbyrav 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 1

I don't know when Hebcal became a subscription (I used to just download the csv and upload to my Apple calendar), but I just discovered that events are on the wrong days. Specifically, the fast of the firstborn is listed as ending on Wednesday evening but starting on Thursday (which is correct). Candlelighting for Pesach is listed as being on Thursday, the 25th. But I'm not allowed to fix these errors since I'm subscribed. Is there any way for me to correct these minor errors?

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal and sorry to hear about this problem. We haven't seen anything quite like what you describe before, so our recommendation would be to delete/unsubscribe from Hebcal on your Apple device and start over

The Feast of Booths/The LORD's Festival of Tabernacles.

Segun Emmanuel Awe 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 1

Hello Friends, how come we don't have the Feast of Booths otherwise known as the LORD's Festival of Tabernacles according to the book of Leviticus 23:34 on the Hebcal? Is this an oversight?

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal!

https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/sukkot

Sukkot (Feast of Booths) for Hebrew Year 5782 begins at sundown on Monday, 20 September 2021 and ends at nightfall on Monday, 27 September 2021.

Sukkot (Hebrew: סוכות or סֻכּוֹת, sukkōt, or sukkos, Feast of Booths, Feast of Tabernacles) is a Biblical holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei (late September to late October). It is one of the three biblically mandated festivals Shalosh regalim on which Jews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem.

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal and we're sorry to hear about your troubles.

We don't have any software that displays a date in the upper right hand corner of your desktop. I'm not sure what application is causing that, but I don't think it's coming from Hebcal. You may need to ask the Apple Genius Bar to help you identify which application is displaying the date.

Follow these instructions if you no longer wish to subscribe to Hebcal in the native Calendar.app on macOS (formerly called iCal on Mac OS X).

If you inadvertently merged the Hebcal calendar events with your personal calendar and you didn’t use the Subscription feature, use our delete Hebcal merged events instructions instead.
