Javascript to display Hebrew date in English

Rob Ginsburg 3 years ago updated by Michael J. Radwin 3 years ago 1
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"
src="https://www.hebcal.com/etc/hdate-en.js"></script>

As of Aug 25 2021 11.00hrs GMT, the code above for displaying Hebrew date in English does not appear to function correctly, as evidenced on your own webpage for developers. The other script for displaying the date in Hebrew characters appears to work fine

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal and thanks for reporting this bug!

We were able to reproduce the bug on our end and have deployed a fix for the problem.

The new version of our Javascript code that displays date in English or Hebrew now uses client-side Javascript that adjusts the date based on the browser's timezone. Previously it was based on the timezone of our server (near New York City USA). The new version should better reflect the actual Hebrew date for your users.

Shabbat Shalom and Shana Tova!
