Fix for HebCal on Android phone not always showing (Google Calendar)

Paul G 10 months ago updated 10 months ago 2

Once installed/added to Google Calendar (via Desktop), HebCal doesn't already appear to display on android mobile phones. It is (sort of) there, however it's not entirely intuitive.

On the Android Google Calendar app you need to go into Menu (the hamburger bar in the top left hand corner), Settings, if you have lots of calendars you need to click on "Show More", click on HebCal and then tick/slide the Sync button.

My top tip/request would be that the above instructions are also added to the "Download" screen on the HebCal website, as per the screenshot below.

Excellent suggestion. We will consider adding some text like this (or the following)

https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37100?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

Important: You can only subscribe to a calendar on the web, from calendar.google.com.

You can show or hide calendars you’ve already subscribed to, but you can’t subscribe to a calendar in the Google Calendar app.

Thanks or the update on this issue. Really appreciated!

For what it's worth whilst you may not be able to subscribe directly within the Google Calendar app, clicking on the click from your website, even if you are on a mobile, does add the calendar - so the instructions on your website are valid regardless, they just need the extra wording, to complete the process and ensure the calendar then actually shows.

That said, I suggest before adding the wording you give it a try/test on Android yourself and you'll see what I mean.
