Please reinstate the readings lists for Chol Hamoed dates of yom tovim AND list of readings for weekday minyanim (for non yom tovs) for Diaspora users.

Hi - I use Hebcal when I daven and it has been essential to accessing the correct readings during minyan and during chol hamoed, such as for Sukkot. The page used to pull up the readings list for each date (ie, Monday, Thursday and Shabbat readings and similarly for Chol Hamoed for Sukkot, Pesach, etc.) Not sure why this was stopped, but it is an essential and unique feature that many of us rely on. Could you please put it back so that the date pulls up a listing of the readings for that date, not just the readings for the upcoming Shabbat? And if the reading would be different for Diaspora than for Israel that week, could you please post the diaspora readings list as well like you used to include? Thank you and Moadim L'simcha.

Hi, thanks for using Hebcal, and mo'adim l'simcha!

We're happy to continue to provide Torah Readings for holidays. You'll find them posted on the holiday page, for example

https://www.hebcal.com/holidays/sukkot-2023#reading

For the Israel version, visit this page:

Hi, can you send a screenshot? We don't understand what you mean when you write "Unfortunately, the Sukkot page doesn't come up right now" because the Sukkot 2023 web page looks just fine to us.

I can see why that was confusing. What I mean is I have subscribed for the daily sederot and the page that comes up for Oct. 03, 2023 features the information for the next Shabbat and (thus) for Shmini Atzeret only, not the readings for Sukkot, which was taking place today. This is what I see when I click on Hebcal for Oct. 3, 2023.

(Previously it would feature the date of Oct. 3 and then the readings for Sukkot Chol Hamoed, for example for that date.) Now it "jumps" to a date that has not yet occurred, eg. Shabbat, Oct. 7, 2023.

Thanks for the additional information. This helps us to understand what you were expecting to see.

We have enhanced the Torah reading RSS feed to include holiday Torah readings that fall between today and the upcoming Shabbat reading. If you refresh the feed, you will see readings for Sukkot chol haMoed in addition to the Shmini Atzeret reading on Shabbat.

Thank you! It's perfect! I greatly appreciate the extra link and information.

chag sameach,

Jan

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your reply and for your help.

Unfortunately, the Sukkot page doesn't come up right now. Instead, as soon as Shabbat is over (Israel time, I think, which is 10 hrs ahead of Pacific D. Time) the page jumps to the next Shabbat, or holiday. So right now, although we're in Sukkot Chol Hamoed, the page that comes up is for Parashat Shmini Atzeret.

I use your system because I can post a link to Hebcal in my browser that gives me the current readings for each minyan. But if it's programmed to jump ahead to the next Shabbat as soon as Shabbat is over, then  it's not able to show the *current* Chol Hamoed readings when we need them.

If you need to program it so it jumps ahead to the next Shabbat (or holiday) information, perhaps one answer might be to post a link on the page that Diaspora minyanim can use to access the correct weekday readings during Chol Hamoed.

Previously, the page did not modify until the entire holiday was over.

Thank you again for your assistance,

Jan
